Students at
Coolnwynpin have been involved in theCoolnwynpin
State School Year 6 Debating Program for the past two years.
It is a
wonderful opportunity for students to develop their skills, particularly in the area of developing an argument, rebuttal
techniques and public speaking.
The Program
includes weekly coaching sessions held in the library every Friday during
middle session. These sessions are led by an experienced debating coach and
adjudicator, supported by our teacher-librarian, Mrs Leggett. Throughout the year, students learn to work
as a team to prepare debate topics.
Coolnwynpin’s Debating
Team has competed in a debating competition run by the Queensland Debating Union for the past two years. The aim of the
competition is to provide students with an exciting opportunity to debate
against students from other schools. There are four rounds held in this
competition and Coolnwynpin Team successfully won all four rounds of the
competition this year.
