Sporting Houses

There are 3 sporting houses at Coolnwynpin. These are named after Australian native plants.

  • Melaleuca (Green)
  • Grevillea (Red)
  • Banksia (Blue)

All students are placed into a sporting house on enrolment. Siblings are kept in the same sporting house. The three main sporting events where students compete to represent their house are the Cross Country Carnivals (Prep-Year 6), Athletics Carnivals (Prep-Year 6) and the Swimming Carnival (Years 3-6).

Interschool Sport

Students in years 4, 5 and 6 have the opportunity to compete in our Interschool Sport Carnival Days. Soccer, Touch Football and Netball are on offer for Semester 1 while Oztag, European Handball and Volleyball/Newcombe Ball are the choices for Semester 2. Semester 1 sports are held on 2 carnival days, one in Term 1 and the second in Term 2. Semester 2 sports follow the same format.

Swimming

Swimming lessons for 2020 will commence on Tuesday 21 April and run until Friday 1 May. The students will be travelling to Chandler Aquatic Centre for this.

Bike Education

Year 4 students participate in our Bike Ed program at the Lota PCYC. Students learn the basics of bicycle safety, riding techniques, bicycle maintenance and road safety.

Cross Country

Cross country training starts at the beginning of the year with before school training as well as later in the term during PE lessons. Our cross country carnival for Years 4-6 is held at the end of Term 1 and our Prep–Year 3 carnival at the beginning of Term 2.
